Advantiv™: ADI's Broad Portfolio of Advanced TV Products
Unit sales of high definition TVs (HDTVs) are forecasted to increase at 44% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2005 to 2010, according to the research firm DisplaySearch. With this rapid growth comes increased demand for signal processing performance and display interconnect functions that are significantly higher than those for standard definition televisions. To create the best user experience, the electronics that comprise the advanced TV ecosystem—high definition DVD players, digital video recorders (DVRs), audio and video receivers (AVRs), and HD camcorders, as well as the interconnect technology that preserves HD signal fidelity as content is distributed throughout the home—must be optimal.
ADI's new Advantiv portfolio of advanced television solutions helps consumer equipment manufacturers clear these and other technical hurdles by supplying the industry's most comprehensive line of high performance audio, video, and interconnectivity component solutions. The Advantiv portfolio includes both products and design support that address a variety of system-level functions.

Audio
The Advantiv portfolio includes advanced TV audio processors with features such as automatic volume control, dynamic bass, a multiband equalizer, and up to 200 ms of stereo delay memory for audio/video synchronization. ADI also offers a range of Class-D audio amplifiers, such as the ADAU1592, which can deliver up to 2 × 18 W, 0.005% THD + N, and optimally interfaces to TV audio processors.
Video
The Advantiv portfolio includes a wide variety of video decoders and encoders. The ADV7441 is a 12-bit integrated multiformat video decoder with an RGB graphics digitizer, a dual HDMI/DVI receiver, and a 12-channel input mux. The Wavescale™ video compression codec is optimized for wireless and wired high definition video transmission in consumer applications. The ADV216 complete video solution utilizes the same compression technology employed today in broadcast, professional video, and digital cinema applications.
Interconnectivity
Supporting the industry's broadest line of HDMI and analog connectivity solutions, ADI offers transmitters for portable media and DVD players, video recorders, and other mobile HD multimedia devices. ADI offers the ADV7520NK, which is the industry's first HDMI transmitter to include the consumer electronic control (CEC) support on chip. ADI's Advantiv advanced television solutions portfolio provides cost-effective analog, digital, and mixed-signal solutions for even the most difficult multiformat advanced TV design challenges.
